The ATT Christmas Party

We are obviously in the holiday spirit. Everything we’ve been posting about in the last couple of weeks has been about the holidays! Last year in our office we not only decorated a Christmas tree, put lights up in other trees but we held our first Christmas party competition week. Our staff had four days of foodie challenges. Our days were broken down by these items; breakfast, favorite dip, soup, and a crock pot challenge. We had so much fun! The winner’s prize was leaving work an hour early the following day. We have started to plan out the festivities for this year and want your feedback. What foodie challenges should we try?!

Holiday Shopping!

Can you believe it’s that time already? Holiday shopping: whether you do it early or late it is a mess. We want to reiterate the signs you see everywhere about “TAKE, LOCK, HIDE”. Whenever you are visiting multiple stores be mindful of where you are placing your purchases and remember to lock your car. Also, while you want to dash in and out of stores as quickly as possible do not get in such a rush that you ignore your surroundings. Please double check your mirror’s before backing out, it takes a split second for someone to get behind your vehicle. And finally, obey all traffic signs and signals; this is one of the most dangerous seasons for drivers. Happy holidays!

Winterizing your Vehicle

This Traffic Tip Tuesday we want to remind those of you with a vehicle to begin winterizing. Every season it is good to do a routine check on your vehicle. For the winter these are a few suggestions we have.
1.      Is your washer fluid appropriate for freezing temperatures… if not it can freeze and potentially damage the reservoir and cause the washer system to become useless
2.      How old is your battery…is there any corrosion around it? Cold weather can at times cause a battery to die, in which case check that you have jumper cables!
3.      Do you own an ice scraper? We highly recommend you not drive with a frosted front or back windshield
4.      Keep at least a quarter to half tank of gas to keep your gas from freezing, and running out on a roadway in the cold.

You can also visit the following article to read more in depth practices to ensure a safe winter on the roads. http://www.dmv.org/how-to-guides/winterize-car.php

As members of the transportation industry, we believe that safety is the highest priority for both our clients and employees. For our employee safety, we ensure that each is trained on the use of two-way radios, possess a cell phone and is outfitted with a bright colored, reflective vest. Mobile devices may only be used when stopped as is required by the law & serves as a safety measure for our clients. We meet all Federal DOT requirements.  The combination of these safety measures provides a safe environment for all parties.

Remembering the rules of the road

How long has it been since you've taken a driver’s test? Do you ever feel like you need a refresher? As a ground transportation provider we are not only concerned with our own driving but those we share the road with. So, for the past year we have been posting driving tips every Tuesday “Traffic Tip Tuesday”. One of our favorites was a link to an online practice driving test. We invite you to use the link below to take the test and see how you do. Although we all try to practice safe driving it never hurts to get a refresher on rules of the road. We will work to include our Traffic Tip Tuesday’s here on the blog as well. Safe travels!

#WarriorOpen Golf Tournament

We were selected as the transportation provider for the #WarriorOpen golf tournament in 2012 and 2013! This event was created by President George W. Bush and is a way to bring wounded veterans from the War on Terror together.  We provided shuttle services to and from the Irving Convention Center and Las Colinas Country Club, where the tournament was held. It is a true honor to give back to those that have bravely served our country. We hope that this event continues for years to come and that we have the privilege to provide our services to those that are in attendance.

Halloween Safety

Halloween is a little over a week away! As we all know the evening is filled with excitement, costumes and of course trick or treating. Halloween is an evening to be extra cautious while driving and walking. We highly doubt you could get away with changing your child's costume but what you can do is add reflective tape to the costume. The tape allows headlights to more easily see a child in the dark. Also, if you aren't accompanying your child trick or treating, remind them to look both ways prior to crossing the street. We would suggest taking a flashlight as well for better visibility. Have a safe and fun HALLOWEEN!

Celebrating a Birthday at American Transfers and Tours

We are celebrating the birthday of Arthur, one of our lead drivers. He has been with the company since 1998. Every year on his birthday he picks the same place to go have lunch, Babe’s Chicken Dinner House. The food is great! But what we like most is the opportunity to have the entire staff together, sharing memories and talking about business in a casual setting. It is interesting how a change of environment and a little food can change the perspective on a typical conversation had right in the office. Birthdays are special, not only to the person who made it another year but to those that are part of an individual’s life. We are very thankful for each member of our staff and celebrating their birthday is just one way of showing them how much we all care!
